The Budi is a one-of-a-kind pillow made of a vintage ikat tube skirt made by Lio ethnic groups, living in the hills above the city of Ende, on the south central coast of Flores. The base color is brown with reddish brown and ecru details.
Ikat from Ende is renowned for its intricate designs and vibrant colors, rooted in centuries-old traditions of Indonesian weaving. Each piece is meticulously handwoven by skilled artisans, and dyed using natural plant dyes, often taking anywhere from 2 - 6 months per piece to complete, making it a unique work of art. Ikat patterns of weaving are handed down as a taught skill - it is a rare art in decline. We feel very fortunate to be able to source & support this art, in our own indirect way.
